Listen to the Bristol Law Review's Podcasts.
Populism and populists defined the politics of the 2010s. The brash, unorthodox and often erratic politics favoured by Donal Trump and Jair Bolsonaro spring to mind when one thinks of a 2010s-era populist. But what is it, really?
An episode focused on the rise of populist politics in mainland Europe. We explore the policies of politicians like Hungary's Viktor Orbán, their attempts at capturing the executive, legilslative and judicial branches of government, as well as the effects of their policies on the EU political and legal order.
Just like the political fervour that overtook Britain after the 23rd of June 2016, the litigation surrounding Brexit was jam-packed with controversy. We explore the Brexit cases, specifically the second Miller case, and what they tell us about UK's 'living' constitution.
